Permit sought for Dec. 22 party

John Hovanec appeared before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County on Wednesday requesting a permit for a Dec. 22 dance party at the Grand Venice Inn benefiting Toys for Tots.

The estimated attendance for the party is 125 people. It would be held from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

It was not clear Wednesday afternoon whether a decision regarding the permit was made.

Instructions sought for license transfer

Owners of a now-closed business appeared before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County on Wednesday for instructions regarding how to apply to transfer a liquor license.

The owners of Burkett's Seafood and Sports Bar, formerly at 908 Pope Ave., know of a potential buyer interested in the business and license, they said.

An application for transfer had not been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.
