Meeting time moved

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Starting Dec. 18, Bath Town Council meetings will start at 6 p.m. rather than 5:30 p.m. to accommodate council members Scott Merki and Irene Hedrick.

The change was unanimously approved at Tuesday night's meeting.

Hedrick was sworn in on Dec. 1 by Mayor Webster; she filled the position vacated by Kenny Easton, who resigned Nov. 30.

Cremation sign gives council pause

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - The Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home asked the Bath Town Council Tuesday night to approve a sign measuring 12 feet high and 6 feet wide on the funeral home parking lot on Union Street.

The sign, which will face Washington Street, will read "Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center." It will include a digital clock underneath the sign.

When the building permit was read for the final acceptance, a motion to approve it was given by Councilman Scott Merki, but no one seconded the motion, and it was not approved.

Mayor Susan J. Webster referred the matter to Councilwomen Nancy Harvey and Irene Hedrick, who will talk to the funeral home owners to learn more about the sign.
