WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Four new Waynesboro Area School Board members took their oath of office Tuesday and assisted in appointing veteran board member Stanley Barkdoll as president.

The oath was administered to Pat Heefner, Edward Wilson, Firmadge Crutchfield, Mindy Rouzer and the re-elected K. Marilyn Smith.

Heefner and Smith represent Washington Township, Wilson and Crutchfield represent the district's north end and Rouzer was elected after a write-in campaign in the borough of Waynesboro.

Smith made a motion to appoint Barkdoll to the post of president, and Heefner seconded that motion. Barkdoll, Rouzer and John Fitz supported the appointment.

Wilson, Leland Lemley, Crutchfield and Chris Devers instead supported Devers as president. A unanimous vote later made him the vice president.
