Boonsboro Boy Scout Troop 20 holds Court of Honor

The scouts of Boonsboro Boy Scout Troop 20 held their Court of Honor on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at their meetinghouse in Shafer Park.

The quarterly event was led by Senior Patrol Leader Josh Bikle and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Matthew DeTora.

Following the flag ceremony conducted by the Stag Patrol and the opening prayer given by Chaplain's aide Tim Winebrenner, the following rank advancements were presented:

Scout - David Drawbaugh; Tenderfoot - Nicholas Dougherty, Jacob Stauffer and Zachary Stauffer; 2nd Class - Nicholas Dougherty, Tom Kersting, Peter Myers, Jacob Stauffer and Zachary Stauffer; Life - Justin Weese; Eagle - Jeffrey DeTora; Bronze Palm - Jacob Reinhart; and 2nd Bronze Palm - Billy Bunker.

After rank advancements, the following merit badge achievements were recognized:

Archery - David Heim; Citizenship in the World - Clayton Powell, Daniel Powell and Douglas Powell; Coin Collecting - Billy Bunker and Wyatt Haggerty; Communications - Zachary Puglisi; Computers - Matthew DeTora; Emergency Preparedness - Matthew DeTora; Farm Mechanics - Billy Bunker; Fire Safety - Joshua Bikle; Hiking - Billy Bunker; Pottery - Joshua Bikle; Rifle Shooting - Andrew Hoffman; and Safety - Joshua Bikle.


Additional awards included: Douglas Powell - World Conservation Award and his fourth year service star and John-Jeremy (J.J.) Navarro received his second year service star.

Recently elected Patrol Leaders - Peter Myers, Justin Weese, Justin Heim and Nick Dougherty and Assistant Patrol Leaders - Tom Kersting, Clay Powell, Jimmy Horner and David Drawbaugh, were also introduced.

At the end of the Court of Honor, Bugler Matthew DeTora played Taps, Chaplain's Aide Tim Winebrenner said a closing prayer and guests were treated to apple cider and cookies made by the scouts.
