Franklin County Association of School Retirees gathers

The Franklin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees recently held its general membership meeting at Rebekkah's Kitchen in Amberson Valley, Pa.

President Gerald Kowallis conducted a short business meeting prior to the luncheon and program. President-elect Dalton Paul led the flag salute and gave the invocation.

New members Janet and David Baker, Catherine Straley and Toby Taylor were introduced. Eva Hoke and Virginia Myers, both 95 years old, were recognized and honored.

President Kowallis presented the 2007 John J. Dillon Service Award to Joanne Bowman, and the 2006-07 Outstanding Volunteer Franklin County Chapter Award to George Cowley.

The Tiger Chorale, a musical group from Fannett-Metal Senior High School, presented a variety of music, including Broadway, easy listening and pop. Lance Umbrell was a piano soloist. Rheann Irvin, Andrew McClanahan and Rachel Junkins were vocalists. The director was Freida Dorand.

The library award was won by Pat Lippy, who awarded it to the Coyle Library. Door prizes and table centerpieces were won by various members.
