Mont Alto toy drive still a go

December 03, 2007

MONT ALTO, Pa. - The ninth annual Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department Toy Drive is in need of toys, but department officials have asked that donors consider monetary contributions in the wake of recent toy recalls.

New toys will then be purchased with special attention paid to recall lists, according to Charlie Baker, president of the fire department.

"Dec. 12 is when we'd like to have everything," Baker said.

Each year, Santa Claus boards firetrucks to deliver toys, food and gift cards to area families. Those people who are nominated for the list or request deliveries are accepted without question.

The firetrucks stopped at a record 138 homes in 2006.

For more information, call the fire department at 717-749-5151.
