Manor Church seniors club gathers in Waynesboro for Thanksgiving

November 30, 2007

On Nov. 7, the Manor Church Senior Citizens Club journeyed to Mountain Gate Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa., to have Thanksgiving dinner. The members said they enjoyed seeing the late fall folliage along the way.

Club president Ruth South welcomed members and guests, and the blessing was said by Pastor Joy Zepp. The dinner was attended by 53 people.

Mary Jane Ahalt was welcomed back after a week of being hospitalized at Washington County Hospital. She was presented with a prayer shawl by Dorothy Jamison, and special prayers were offered by Pastor Bill Stoner.

Pastor Zepp was presented with a red rose in a glass vase. Harold Ridenour made the presentation and thanked her for her dedication and service to the club.

Two club members were reported sick. South and club vice president Iolene Cass visited one of the sick members at her home and presented her with a prayer shawl.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard McBee were welcomed to the club as new members.

Following a short business meeting and dinner, the Rhinelander German Band entertained the group with German music.

The restaurant dining room was prepared in advance for members in wheelchairs, which is a credit to Mountain Gate Restaurant.
