Williamsport Rotary selling 2008 community calendar

November 27, 2007

The Williamsport Rotary Club has produced a 2008 community calendar for sale. The calendar features beautiful photos of the Williamsport area including Byron Memorial Park, C&O Canal and Williamsport High School students.

The calendar will feature the dates of community activities, ads from community businesses and information on Rotary.

The club decided a year ago to create the calendar as a new fundraising opportunity. Photos were collected from area photographers - amateur and professional - such as Kim Lowe, Peggy Eyler, Noel Williams, Kim Banzhoff, Greg Martin, Nick McIntosh and Bonnie Errico.

Event dates were collected from various community organizations. Calendar committee chair Bonnie Errico said, "It was difficult getting groups to provide the event dates this first year, but I'm sure once they see how useful the calendar can be they'll come around for next year."

The calendars sell for $10 and are available for purchase at Town Hall on Conococheague and Salisbury streets although other sale locations will be forthcoming. In addition, the Rotary Club is looking for groups who would like to piggy-back on this fundraiser and sell the calendar for a share of the profits.

Work on the 2009 calendar has already begun. To submit 2009 event dates and photos for consideration, to discuss advertising possibilities or to ask how your organization can help sell the calendar, you can contact any Williamsport Rotarian or send an e-mail to WilliamsportRotary@yahoo.com.

The calendars are available by mail to those out of the area for an additional charge for shipping and handling.
