Frederick woman charged in attack on elderly man

FREDERICK, Md. ? A Frederick woman was charged in a warrant with attempted murder in an alleged attack on an elderly man Monday.

Frederick Police said Mary Patricia Kerr, 53, was charged with attempted first-degree and second-degree murder, first-degree and third-degree burglary, first-degree and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and using a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.

Kerr allegedly cut an elderly man with a kitchen knife in an apartment in the 110 block of Burgess Hill Way in the Creekside Apartment complex, police said. The victim, who was cut near his eye, told officers that he knew his attacker, police said.

Several residents in the apartment building saw the suspect lead the area, and police said their initial attempts to find Kerr were unsuccessful, police said.
