Punt says he's ready to run again for Pa. Senate seat

November 27, 2007|By JENNIFER FITCH

State Sen. Terry Punt, R-Franklin/Adams, said he is likely to run for another four-year term and will make his final decision in the next three to five weeks.

"I'm looking at it, assessing it. I'm planning on running," he said.

Punt is in his fifth term in the Senate and previously served five terms in the House.

He said his final decision for 2008 will, as always, be based on his health and "as long as I can do the job and make a difference."

"No matter what the polls showed in the past, I've always used that criteria," Punt said.

On Monday, Punt described his current health as good despite struggles with diabetes and heart bypass surgery in the past three years.

"I believe we've made a difference. We've done a lot of good in my district and the state," said Punt, of Waynesboro.
