Greencastle-Antrim High School plans holiday concert

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The High School Music Department of the Greencastle-Antrim School District will present its annual holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.

Opening the program will be the Combined Choirs, under the direction of new choral director Martha Fuchs. The combined choirs will be performing "Alleluia," a round by William Boyce.

Following this performance will be the Ninth Grade Band, conducted by Samuel B. Forney. The ensemble will perform "Glorioso," "A Christmas Flourish," "Into the Storm" and "Portraits of Christmas."

The program will continue with a performance by the Ninth Grade Chorus, also under the direction of Fuchs. Their portion of the program contains "The Lights of December" and a Christmas classic, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas."

Following the Ninth Grade Chorus will be the Concert Band, also under Forney's direction. The group will perform "A Christmas Portrait," "Sedona," and "A Christmas Collage," conducted by Assistant Drum Major Tyler Pine. The Concert Band will conclude their performance with "Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis."

The concert will continue with a performance by the Chamber Choir, a select group of 16 voices. This vocal group will perform Palestrina's "Adoramus te," "All On A Starry Night," "Deck The Halls (in 7/8)," and "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

The last of the high school ensembles to perform will be the Concert Choir, which will be directed by Fuchs. The choir will perform "Carol of the Bells," "Durme, durme," and "Sing We All Noel!"

Concluding the program will be a mass choir and band performance of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus." All Greencastle-Antrim alumni are invited to join the choir in the traditional singing of this selection.
