Man convicted in robbery sentenced

November 22, 2007

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man convicted in an April strong-arm robbery was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to 11 to 23 months in the county jail.

Renard X. Hazelton, 19, of South Main Street, also was ordered by Judge John R. Walker to pay more than $3,700 in restitution, mostly for the victim's medical bills.

Chambersburg police were called to West King Street April 24 at 3 a.m. for a report of a fight in progress. When they arrived, they found the victim, Justin Kling, bleeding from the head and with "a visible shoe print on his forehead," police said.

Kling told police he was walking home from work with a friend when he was jumped by three men who stole a DVD, two disposable lighters and a silver necklace. Witnesses saw the three men get into a vehicle, which police soon tracked down.
