The Hagerstown Police Department on Tuesday still was awaiting an autopsy report and had no additional information about the suspicious death of a 22-year-old man whose body was found Monday afternoon at 440 Liberty St., Sgt. Paul Kifer said Tuesday afternoon.

Police will release the identity of the victim when they receive preliminary results of the autopsy report, Kifer said.

"We want to make sure we know what we're releasing," he said.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy, and the situation was being investigated as a homicide because of the suspicious nature of death, officers said in a press release.

The victim was in a fight with one other person late Saturday or early Sunday outside 440 Liberty St., Kifer said Monday.

The man was found dead, alone in the living room at the home, on Monday about 4:15 p.m. by a relative who went to check on him after not hearing from him, police said.
