Former student board rep honored



Sarah Miller, a former student representative to the Washington County Board of Education, was honored during a Tuesday business meeting.

Miller, who graduated this year from South Hagerstown High School, now is a freshman at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

"We appreciate your service," Board President Roxanne R. Ober said. "We know how much time it takes. We appreciated your dedication and your support for us and our mission."




Students recognized for T-shirt designs



Students who won a T-shirt design contest for Character Counts! were recognized Tuesday during a Washington County Board of Education business meeting.

First-place winner Elizabeth Rohr, 7, attends Williamsport Elementary School and will receive a $100 savings bond. Second-place winner Cheyene Sheedy, 10, of Boonsboro Elementary School, will receive a $50 savings bond, and third-place winner Carly Mazzonne, 12, who attends Boonsboro Middle School, will receive a $25 savings bond.
