Social Services holds luncheon for adoptive parents in county

November 20, 2007

The Washington County Department of Social Services hosted a luncheon for adoptive families and their children to celebrate the children's adoption and the designation of November as National Adoption Month.

W. Kennedy Boone III, Washington County Circuit Court judge, who frequently presides over adoption proceedings, said that finalized adoptions are the most fulfilling part of his job.

Judge Boone praised the adoptive parents for their selflessness and dedication to their children.

David A. Engle, the county Social Services director, expressed sincere gratitude to adoptive parents for providing loving, stable and permanent homes to the children of Washington County. Both parents and children enjoyed the day.

During fiscal year 2007 (July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007), 20 children in Washington County found stability and security through legalized adoption. Most adoptive families begin this process by becoming foster parents.
