Webelos Woods event held at Sinoquipe camp

November 20, 2007

The Mason-Dixon Council conducted a Webelos Woods at Sinoquipe Scout Reservation. The event was held on Oct. 13 and 14.

Boy Scout troops helped teach future Boy Scouts some skills needed to become Scouts. Troop 19, Waynesboro, Pa., demonstrated fire building and the Webelos practiced lighting fires in burn barrels.

Troop 99, Greencastle, Pa., gave instructions on flag ceremonies. Troop 64, Maugansville, assisted with measurements and some orienteering. Troop 5, Hagerstown, gave cooking demonstrations.

The Webelos had the opportunity to practice BB and archery shooting.

In the evening, everyone participated in a hayride and visited a haunted cabin orchestrated by Tom Hoover with the assistance of Troop 2, Hagerstown, followed by a campwide campfire with troops and packs performing skits. On Sunday morning, a youth-led chapel service was held, followed by a closing awards ceremony.
