New Food Lion on way to W.Va.

November 17, 2007

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The fifth Food Lion in Berkeley County is under construction, and store officials say it will be open for business in 2008.

The walls are up on the store, which is on W.Va. 9 at Coast Guard Drive near Kearneysville, W.Va., on the Berkeley County side of the Berkeley/Jefferson county line.

Berkeley County Planning Director Stephanie Morton said the site plans indicate there will be a grocery store and parking area at the new location.

Plans were approved in 2005, Morton said. All permits also have been approved.

The four other Food Lions in Berkeley County are at Old Courthouse Square and Winchester Avenue in Martinsburg; and one each in Hedgesville and Inwood.
