· To grow our business globally, First Data is continually seeking better and faster ways to deliver new products and services to our customers.

· Today, various areas of First Data have reduced their headcount, resulting in an overall 6 percent reduction in force. At the same time, we have added a significant number of new employees through recent acquisitions. Due to the number of new employees we have added, our year-end global headcount is expected to remain the same approximately 29,000 employees.

· These decisions are never easy to make and we understand the impact on people's lives. We will do everything that we can to support the affected employees through this transition.

· All employees losing their jobs will be eligible to receive severance benefits and outplacement services.

· As part of our reallocation of resources, we will be consolidating many of First Data's smaller sites that we inherited through acquisitions over the years.

· A reallocation of resources will allow First Data to reinvest in state-of-the art technology and new product innovation.

In Hagerstown

· Local reduction is approximately 3 percent, which is below the reported 6 percent global reduction.

· Hagerstown continues to be a key site for First Data.

· First Data is a significant employer in Hagerstown, with approximately 2,000 employees.
