W.Va. stabbing victim in fair condition

November 16, 2007

A Martinsburg, W.Va., man was stabbed several times Friday morning at Motel 6 on Massey Boulevard, Sgt. Roy Harsh of the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

David Wayne Cook, 52, was listed in fair condition Friday night at Washington County Hospital.

No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing, Harsh said.

The sheriff's department was called at 3:13 a.m., and officers found Cook in the lobby of the motel.

Cook had rented a room and was going into his room when a man approached him, Harsh said. The man then attempted to rob Cook and stabbed him several times, he said.

Deputies described the assailant as a white man with a thin build between the ages of 30 and 35.
