Battery charge filed against Fairfax Co. officer dismissed

November 15, 2007

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A misdemeanor charge of battery filed against a Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department officer has been dismissed, Berkeley County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Christopher Quasebarth said Wednesday.

Quasebarth was unable to explain why the charge filed against Berkeley County resident Trevor A. Steranko II had been dropped, but acknowledged that the dismissal was handled by Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie Saunders, who was in court.

Steranko, 22, of 29 Effie Lane, was accused of striking his roommate in the mouth in altercation Oct. 1, according to a complaint filed by a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department deputy.
