November 14, 2007|By ANDREW SCHOTZ

A man was shot at the Washington Gardens apartment complex overnight, Hagerstown Police said Wednesday.

Sgt. Paul Kifer said Wednesday afternoon that the victim ? a 43-year-old white man ? was in the intensive care unit at Washington County Hospital.

Police were not disclosing the man's identity yet.

Someone called the police at about 12:45 a.m. to report a gunshot, Kifer said.

He said the man was sitting in a van with a Pennsylvania license plate in a parking lot at the apartment complex, which is off Security Road.

The man didn't live at the complex, but police don't know what we was doing there, Kifer said.

Uniformed officers and detectives have asked residents if they saw or heard anything, but have gotten "spotty information," he said.

Residents interviewed by The Herald-Mail at the complex on Wednesday also didn't know much about the shooting, other than they heard talk that it had happened.
