Hollenshead 14th at nationals

INA, Ill. - Hagerstown Community College freshman Lindsey Hollenshead earned All-American honors Saturday at the NJCAA championships.

Hollenshead, a James Buchanan graduate, placed 14th out of 235 runners in the women's 5K race in 17:58. She was the fourth American finisher. Jordan Atha placed 89th for the Hawks in 19:51.

HCC competed as a team in the 8K men's race and finished 24th out of 35 squads.

Dustin Adams placed 67th in 26:56 in the field of 261 runners to lead the Hawks. Also for HCC, Justin Cole was 92nd (27:18), Mike Podlesnik was 124th (27:55), Ryan Shifler was 189th (29:11) and Wes Brutcher was 209th (30:01).


Saints finish 8th

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - St. James finished eighth out of 10 teams in the small-school division of the Maryland/D.C. Private School State Championships.


Ian Lukens placed 23rd in 19:17.5 for the Saints on the 5K course, while Zach Abeles was 42nd (20:57.8), Will Howard was 45th (21:35.6), Alex Graham was 47th (22:05.1), Austin Robertazza was 49th (22:40.0) and Connor Redmond was 50th (22:52.8).

Hagerstown 'Y' opens with win

The Hagerstown YMCA swim team opened its season on Saturday by defeating the Cumberland YMCA, 466-206.

Nine of the Hagerstown swimmers had qualifying times for Districts.


Soccer tryouts
