Williamsport High School seeks new band uniforms

November 07, 2007

Williamsport High School band has begun raising money to purchase new uniforms.

The Band Boosters have started planning different fundraising ideas, and will keep the community posted about upcoming projects and dates.

To begin with, they are planning a school community yard sale to benefit the music departments of thethree Williamsport schools - Williamsport Elementary, Springfield Middle and Williamsport High School.

The tentative date is April 26, 2008, and the high school is accepting nonclothing donations from 6 to 7 p.m. before the monthly Band Boosters meetings at the high school band room beginning Dec. 17 through the April 2008 meeting.

All the high school money earned will go directly to the band uniform fund. The Band Boosters are a non-profit organization, donations may be tax deductible - donors should check with their tax adviser. Monetary donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

For all those wanting to donate, the cost of a new band uniform is $425. The Band Boosters will honor donors at the end of year band dinner.

In addition, a fundraiser going under way is Consumer Electronics Recycling. Anyone can donate their old consumer electronics, including damaged and nonworking items. Cell phones, ink jet printer cartridges, MP3 and portable DVD players, digital cameras and frames, video games (Xbox, PlayStations, Wii), laptops, and working DVDs/Video games are just some of the items that are being collected.

Call Ellen Noll at 301-223-6345 and leave a message if you have any questions or would like to donate.

The uniform fundraising committee chairs can be contacted with any questions: Kim Baker at 301-223-1879, Karen Long at 301-582-3819, or Noll.
