Rite Aid coming to Ranson center

RANSON, W.Va. - Rite Aid will join the tenant mix at Potomac Towne Center on W.Va. 9 in Ranson, the developer of the complex announced Wednesday.

Rite Aid plans to open its newest pharmacy in summer 2008. Carl M. Freeman Companies is the developer for the 14,564-square-foot building, located on a 2.4-acre pad site at The Boulevard, phase 2 of the center in Jefferson County.

Rite Aid is one of the nation's leading drugstores, operating more than 5,000 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia. It is the largest drugstore chain on the East Coast and the third largest in the nation.

Rite Aid opened its first store in September 1962 in Scranton, Pa. The company added five stores in the first few years and officially adopted the Rite Aid Corp. name in 1968. It became a public company in 1970.

Rite Aid will join Bob Evans and Frank Theatres at The Boulevard, phase 2 of the Potomac Towne Center project on W.Va. 9 in Ranson. The Marketplace opened in 2006 and is anchored by Weis, Home Depot, Petco and Kohl's. It also includes Panera Bread, California Tortilla, Roy Rogers, Anytime Fitness, Hair Cuttery, Ledo Pizza, Hollywood Tans, Lin's Chinese, City National Bank, Hallmark, Cingular, Executive Cleaners, UPS, State Farm, Famous Footwear, Baer Mattress, Glory Days Grill, U.S. Cellular, Game Stop, Quiznos, Baskin Robbins and Dunkin Donuts.
