Delmar Inn license transfer approved

The transfer of a National Pike restaurant's liquor license was approved Wednesday by the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County.

David Nigh said he is in the process of selling The New Delmar Inn at 16715 National Pike and plans to retire after 20 years of owning the business.

The prospective buyer is Sunil Patel of North Potomac, Md., according to county documents.

Patel said the business will operate as it had before.

"I'm not going to change anything," he said.

Beer license sought for Ingram's Tavern

The operators of a Sharpsburg tavern on Wednesday asked county liquor officials for a license to sell beer.

Randy Ingram said he wants to reopen Ingram's Tavern at 2405 Harpers Ferry Road and needs permission from the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County to sell beer.

Commission Chairman Robert L. Everhart said Ingram would have to submit, among other things, an application for the license. In addition, the commissioners would have to schedule a hearing, probably in about 30 days, to further consider the request, Everhart said.
