MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Time is running out for Martinsburg residents interested in being appointed to complete an unexpired term on City Council to submit a letter of interest or resumé.

As of Monday, Martinsburg City Recorder Sharon Flick said she had received formal interest from five people to fill the council's at-large seat vacated by Donald Anderson last month.

A letter or resum to express interest in the seat will be accepted from registered voters who reside within the city boundaries of Martinsburg until 5 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Documents should be sent to the attention of the City Recorder, City of Martinsburg, 232 N. Queen St., Martinsburg WV 25401.

Mayor George Karos has said that after the deadline current members of City Council would meet as a whole in executive session to decide a short list of two or three candidates and then contact their top choice and invite them to the next council meeting.

The individual selected would serve until June 30, 2008. The next municipal election is June 10.
