Chambersburg police seek credit union robber

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg police were looking for a heavyset man who held up the Patriot Federal Credit Union branch on South Federal Street Monday morning.

The man entered the credit union at about 8:30 a.m. Witnesses told police he handed an employee a handwritten note demanding cash, police said. The man left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen fleeing on foot toward West Queen Street, police said.

The man was described as black, in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and between 250 and 300 pounds, police said. He wore a gray sweat shirt and a black baseball cap, police said.

The man did not show a weapon and no one was injured in the robbery, Detective Sgt. Dianne Kelso said. Police were examining a security surveillance video to see what other information can be gathered from it, she said.
