M&T Bank

Scott W. Clark, administrative vice president at M&T Bank, has been named M&T securities market manager for Maryland.

Clark, who joined M&T in 1994, will be responsible for the Maryland securities markets in addition to the Pennsylvania markets he already managed. He will work closely with the retail regional managers to ensure a consistent approach to the investment and insurance sales process throughout the mid-Atlantic markets.

Clark, who will manage more than 140 licensed securities brokers working throughout M&T's Maryland and Pennsylvania branch network, has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.

He holds his Series 7, Series 24, and Series 65 licenses from the National Association of Securities Dealers.

He recently was awarded a professional certification in the field of long-term care.

Prudential Franklin Associates

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Realtor Nichole Embly has joined Prudential Franklin Associates Inc.

She is a graduate of Shippensburg University with a B.A. in psychology.


She is employed as a senior instructor by Chase Card Services, where she is responsible for training new employees in both sales and customer service.

Total Fitness Specialists Inc.

Sheila Kurtz has joined the personal training staff of Total Fitness Specialists Inc.

Kurtz recently graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports science/health fitness. She is a certified personal trainer and has certifications as an emergency medical technician, a lifeguard, and in first aid and CPR.

She is working with clients in a variety of areas, including post-cardiac rehabilitation, with the handicapped and disabled, with 5K race training, new member workouts and after-school group exercise for teachers and staff at Clear Spring.

UCP of Central Maryland

PIKESVILLE, Md. - Cindy Tedrick has been promoted to quality assurance director at UCP of Central Maryland.

She has worked for the agency for 13 years, providing job development and coaching services and conducting vocational assessments.

Tedrick, who has a degree in information technology, implemented new incident-reporting procedures, and developed a one-point-of-contact system for all reporting issues and investigations.

First promoted to employment supervisor at UCP of Central Maryland, she assisted the upper management team with the implementation and maintenance of a wide-area network. Beginning in 2002, Tedrick also worked as the organization's network administrator.

Tedrick, who is from Hagerstown, lives in Reisters-town, Md.

Synergy Healing Arts Center

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Margie Schaeffer, director of Synergy Healing Arts Center & Massage School, recently was awarded a Distinguished Service Award by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

The award was presented for leadership, dedication, enrichment of lives, promotion of massage and the advancement of AMTA, according to a prepared release.

Schaeffer is a coordinator of the Pennsylvania Rotunda massage, a program that brings massage therapy to the attention of legislators and teaches massage students to become legislatively involved and to communicate with state representatives.

Smith Elliott Kearns & Company

David E. St. Clair of Smith Elliott Kearns & Company has completed the requirements to be licensed as a certified public accountant.

St. Clair graduated from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., in 2001, with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

He joined the Audit Department of the Hagers-town office that same year.

Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village

BOONSBORO - Cassandra Weaver began her duties on Sept. 10 as the senior administrative services and Human Resource director at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village.

Weaver, of Smithsburg, has more than 20 years of experience in the health-care field. She will oversee functions of human resources, information technology and accounting services.

Weaver is a graduate of Boonsboro High School, Hagerstown Community College and Frostburg State University.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Waynesboro office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA recognized sales professionals Paul Gunder and Matt Gunder for their performances in September.

Paul Gunder, who has been a licensed Realtor since 1979, specializes in farms and land development.

Matt Gunder, who is licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland, focuses on residential sales.


Lt. Barry Wood has been named the Maryland Correctional Training Center's supervisor of the quarter for the fourth quarter of 2007.

Wood, a member of the prison's admnistrative team on the 8-4 shift, completed all of the cases assigned to him, has completed investigations in a timely manner and maintained a zero backlog of cases in September.

He also helped gather information regarding a planned assault, according to a prepared release.

He has been employed at MCTC since 1990. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in December 2002.
