Rouzer mounts write-in effort for Waynesboro School Board

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A Waynesboro resident has announced a last-minute write-in candidacy for an open Waynesboro Area School Board seat to be filled in Tuesday's municipal election in Pennsylvania.

"My main concerns were the dropout rates at the high school and the safety concerns with the recent stabbing that occurred" at Waynesboro Area Middle School, Mindy Rouzer said.

Rouzer, 32, of 215 S. Broad St., is copying fliers and recruiting poll workers for her competition against Jennifer Johns, who will appear as Dem/Rep on ballots for the regional seat representing the Borough of Waynesboro.

Rouzer, owner of Synergy Chiropractic Center, is a registered Democrat.

Johns, 29, of 267 Hawbaker Ave., said she suspected someone might mount a write-in campaign.

"I really can't comment on it. I'm still going to try my best to get on the board," Johns said.

Johns, a Republican and homemaker, said she wants to represent low- to moderate-income residents who cannot afford another tax hike. She also talked about child safety concerns.
