Head Start of Washington Co. hosts Family Fall Festival

October 29, 2007

Head Start of Washington County Inc. kicked off National Head Start Awareness Month with a Family Fall Festival at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park on Oct. 4.

The festival included games and activities by the local Head Start grantee, as well as with many community partnering agencies. The Hagerstown Fire Department, Washington County Health Department, WCHD Prevention Services, Maryland Cooperative Extension and Washington County Hospital joined the staff of Head Start to promote health, wellness and safety.

Activities included fire safety information, health and nutrition screenings, car seat safety and healthy eating experiences.

In addition, activities from the National Head Start campaign "I Am Moving, I Am Learning" were incorporated into part of the evening's fun. The "I Am Moving, I Am Learning" curriculum was designed to incorporate more physical activity into the daily routine of the Head Start classrooms as well as in the personal lives of both Head Start families and staff.
