The host Hagerstown Community College volleyball team swept through its pool Saturday to advance to today's semifinals of the Region XX tournament.
The Hawks won Pool A by beating the Catonsville Cardinals 30-20, 30-19 and the Garrett Lakers 30-5, 30-8.
HCC (38-4) will play Harford, the runner-up in Pool B, at 11 a.m. The College of Southern Maryland won Pool B and will face Catonsville, the runner-up in Pool A, in the other semifinal.
The two semifinal winners will meet in the championship match at 1 p.m.
Sammi Snodderly ended Game 1 against Catonsville with a kill and then helped the Hawks to a 6-1 lead in Game 2 with five straight service points.
"Our coaches told us to come in here and play our hearts out," she said. "They keep telling us that this is our ticket to nationals. So, we have got to play like we want to go to nationals. As a team, defense has been the No. 1 thing that we have been working on. Our defense has been picking up this year. We have been picking up a lot of balls."
