Brunswick Railroaders (1-6) at North Hagerstown Hubs (2-5)

Series: North Hagerstown leads, 10-8.

Last meeting: 2006 - North Hagerstown, 27-0.

Last week: The Railroaders lost to Boonsboro, 34-10. The Hubs beat Walkersville, 30-15.

Notes: The Railroaders have lost five straight games. The Hubs have won two in a row. The Hubs have won five of the last seven games in the series. The Railroaders forced four turnovers in the first 13 1/2 minutes of the game and led Boonsboro, 10-0. ... The Railroaders surrendered 497 yards - all rushing - against Boonsboro. ... Bret Hartle led the Railroaders with 50 rushing yards and Ethan Baker had a 30-yard TD run. ... The Hubs are tied with Frederick atop the MVAL Piedmont standings. ... Hubs QB Bryan Calendine completed 9 of 15 passes for 179 yards and 3 TDs. He hooked up with Mike McMillan six times for 124 yards and 2 TDs. ... South Hagerstown Rebels (1-6) at Middletown Knights (4-3)

Last week: The Rebels lost to Smithsburg, 26-13. The Knights lost to Frederick, 40-7.

Notes: The Rebels' only win in the series came in 2000, a 32-26 victory at School Stadium. QB Wes Samples threw for 146 yards and 2 TDs - both to Cory Shank - but also threw 3 INTs. ... The Rebels were held scoreless in three trips into the red zone. ... The Rebels outgained the Leopards, 283-265. ... The Knights have lost three in a row after a 4-0 start. They've been outscored 116-28 in those three losses. Frederick threw for 262 yards and 3 TDs against the Knights defense. ... The Knights trailed 20-0 after one quarter and managed just 15 yards of offense in the first half.

Clear Spring Blazers (0-7) at Boonsboro Warriors (5-2)

Last week: The Blazers lost to Maryland School for the Deaf, 48-0. The Warriors beat Brunswick, 34-10.

Notes: The Blazers have lost 14 straight games. They have been shut out in six of those losses and scored only once in the other eight. RB Jesse Jarvis had 50 yards rushing and Jon Connors added 46 yards in the loss to MSD. ... The Blazers trailed MSD 34-0 at halftime. ... The Warriors are tied atop the MVAL Antietam standings with Smithsburg and Catoctin, who face off this week. Ryan McLean rushed for 225 yards and 2 TDs to help the Warriors erase a 10-0 second-quarter deficit against Brunswick. ... The Warriors gained all of their yards (497) on the ground against Brunswick. ... Andrew Griffith scored a pair of rushing TDs for the Warriors, giving him 11 on the season. He is averaging 1 TD every 7 carries.

Catoctin Cougars (3-4) at Smithsburg Leopards (7-0)

Last week: The Cougars beat Williamsport, 28-7. The Leopards beat South Hagerstown, 26-13.

Notes: The Cougars have won four of the last five games in the series. The teams are tied, along with Boonsboro, for first place in the MVAL Antietam. The Cougars have won three of their last four games following an 0-3 start. ... The Cougars played a ball-control game against Williamsport, keeping the ball for more than 28 of the game's 48 minutes. ... QB D.J. Doyle ran for 2 TDs and threw for another for the Cougars. ... Catoctin gained 279 yards on the ground. ... The Leopards took advantage of four turnovers to beat South Hagerstown. ... The Leopards had a balanced offensive attack against South, rushing for 131 yards and throwing for 134. ... Bobby Smith ran for a pair of TDs and Josh Conway picked off two passes for the Leopards, who were actually outgained by the Rebels. ... The Leopards are third in the Maryland Class 1A West playoff standings.

St. James Saints (3-4) at Hancock Panthers (3-4)

Last week: The Saints beat Bishop Walsh, 35-12. The Panthers lost to Northern Garrett, 55-0.

Notes: The Saints have won the last four meetings. The Saints rushed for 322 yards in just 21 plays against Bishop Walsh, an average of 15.3 yards per carry. ... Barrett Brown ran for 164 yards, including an 80-yard TD run. ... Idara Umoren added 67 yards and 2 TDs. ...
