Area residents sentenced in U.S. District Court

Five sentenced for using counterfeit 'green cards'



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. ? Five area residents were sentenced Oct. 22 in United States District Court in Martinsburg, W.Va., all for using a counterfeit Alien Registration Receipt card, or green card, the United States Attorney's office said.

Guadalupe Delacruz, 27, of Martinsburg, pleaded guilty to the charge July 5 and was sentenced to three years probation Monday.

Manuel Chavez Hernandez, 34, of Martinsburg, pleaded guilty Oct. 10 and was sentenced to three years probation Monday.

Froilan Garcia Martinez, 29, of Martinsburg, pleaded guilty Aug. 21, 2007 and was sentenced to four months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release.

Jose Paniagua, 23, of Martinsburg, pleaded guilty July 5 and was sentenced to one month imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release.

Valentin Paniagua, 27, of Chambersburg, Pa., pleaded guilty Oct. 10 and was sentenced to three years probation.




Harpers Ferry man sentenced for porn possession



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. ? A 22-year-old Harpers Ferry, W.Va. resident who pleaded guilty in July to possession of pornography was sentenced Tuesday in United States District Court to 27 months imprisonment, the United States Attorney's office said.

Timothy Silveous was free on bond and was to report to a designated federal institution, the United States Attorney said in a news release.

Silveous pleaded guilty in connection with an Aug. 5, 2004, incident.
