The Hagerstown Community College women's tennis team - fresh off winning its first Maryland JuCo Conference title in program history - will compete in the Region XX Tournament this Sunday and Monday at Cecil Community College in North East, Md.
"We won the conference championship this year and we're looking forward to the regionals," HCC fifth-year coach Duc Trieu said. "If we win, we'll qualify for the nationals in Tucson, Ariz., in May. The top individuals also advance to the nationals."
There will be four Maryland JuCo Conference schools in the region tourney - Hagerstown, host Cecil, Harford and Montgomery-Rockville.
HCC, with a strong presence of Washington County talent, finished the regular-season campaign with an 8-1 record - losing only to Cecil.
Twins and Smithsburg graduates Tessa and Mia Doyle are the Hawks' Nos. 1 and 2 singles players as well as their No. 1 doubles team.
