FREDERICK, Md. ? A Hagerstown man died of a gunshot wound Thursday morning in an apartment in Frederick, the Frederick Police Department said.

Officers who responded to a report of a shooting at 1:47 a.m. found Michael Abraham Brall, 23, with a single gunshot wound to the chest, police said in a news release.

When emergency personnel arrived, they determined Brall was dead, police said.

Police said Brall and several friends were in the apartment when he and Brian Gregory Stone, 22, went into a bedroom to look at a handgun that belonged to Stone's roommate, who was not there at the time. The handgun was discharged while Stone was handling it, officers said.

Brall's body was taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Stone, of 1205 Baker Place, Apt. 43, in Frederick, was charged with manslaughter and reckless endangerment, police said.
