A1 correction

October 24, 2007

Due to an editor's error, a sentence was omitted from a story about a man charged with first-degree murder on page A1 of Tuesday's Herald-Mail. The omission changed the meaning of the next sentence. The sentences should have read:

Aside from the diminished capacity defense, (Prosecuting Attorney) Pamela Games-Neely and (defense attorney) B. Craig Manford told (Judge David H.) Sanders there were few pretrial matters left to resolve other than photographs and a notice of intent to use evidence filed by the prosecuting attorney to present witnesses that she said would show (Stephen R.) Fielder's "explosive temper."

In a notice filed with the court Monday, Games-Neely said that aspect of the state's case would be based on the defendant's prior relationships and a letter Fielder wrote to a woman since he was jailed without bond on Sept. 18, 2006.

The Herald-Mail apologizes for the mistake.
