October 22, 2007|By HEATHER KEELS

Two men with knives attempted to rob the Little Caesars Pizza at 420 E. Antietam St. as it was closing Sunday, Hagerstown Police said.

The men entered the store around 10 p.m. and tried to get employees to open a safe, but were unsuccessful, officer Curtis Kelley said.

One of them, a black man between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 5 inches tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black scarf over his face, ran out the front door and fled south on South Cannon Avenue, Kelley said. The other, a black man about the same height in a black hooded sweatshirt and a camouflage scarf, ran out the back door and fled in an unknown direction, he said.

A search by a Washington County Sheriff's Department's K-9 dog was unsuccessful, police said.

Two employees and a relative of one of the employees were in the store at the time of the robbery, Kelley said.
