City will host informational meeting

The City of Hagerstown Department of Economic Development will host an informational meeting Thursday from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the Council Chamber of City Hall at 1 E. Franklin St.

The city will host quarterly informational meetings about downtown Hagerstown. Thursday's meeting will feature three speakers - Jason Goldberg, owner of MADCAM; Skip Tovornik, owner of CHS; and Charles Sekula, owner of Schmankerl Stube.

Riford named grand marshal for parade

Tom Riford, president and chief executive officer of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been named grand marshal for the Oct. 27 Alsatia Mummers Parade in Hagerstown.

James McCleaf, Alsatia Mummers Parade chairman, said the parade has more than 200 units, including marching bands, floats, dignitaries, marching mummers, and emergency vehicles and firetrucks from across the region. The parade route goes through downtown Hagerstown on Potomac Street.


The Alsatia Club sells tickets for about 2,500 bleacher seats and 3,000 chairs every year.

Intersection near airport will be closed

Hagerstown Regional Airport has announced that Airview Road at U.S. 11 will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, for final pavement work.

The road will be open at Paradise Church Road for local traffic only.
