CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two members of the Cumberland Valley Christian School soccer team died Friday afternoon when the car they were in collided with a pickup truck on Letterkenny Road, Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said.

Ethan S. Gunnell, 15, address unavailable, of Waynesboro, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:04 p.m. accident in the area of 3524 Letterkenny Road, Conner said.

Timothy C. Madeiros, 15, address unavailable, of Newburg, Pa., was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m. at Chambersburg Hospital, Conner said.

Gunnell and Madeiros were back-seat passengers in a Toyota Corolla, Conner said. There were three other students in the car, he said.

Conner confirmed that the occupants of the car all were members of the school soccer team returning from practice.

The car was headed south toward Chambersburg when it spun out on a curve and went into the northbound lane, Conner said. The left front of the truck collided with the driver's side doors of the car, he said.

A woman was driving the pickup truck, Conner said.

The road was wet due to heavy rains Friday, but Conner said he did not know if it was raining at the time of the accident.

Mark Trace, chief of the Franklin Fire Co., said four people were taken by ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital. Medical helicopters in the area were grounded because of bad weather at the time of the crash, Trace said.

Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the accident, but had not released any information as of 10:30 p.m.
