Apple Harvest Festival

The XXVIII Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival features a weekend of apples and entertainment. A parade starting on West King Street and ending on South Queen Street is today at 1 p.m. An arts and crafts show will be today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Berkeley County Youth Fairgrounds. Nine bands will perform Saturday. A children's area will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and artists' row will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bands performing are:

Halloween in the park

The Park at Dark is an age-appropriate activity suited for school-age children in grades kindergarten through five. The event will feature scary stories, snacks and candy, hayrides, goodie bags, scarecrow build, prizes, games and a costume contest for all ages. Hosted by the Washington County Recreation Department. Today, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Doub's Woods Park, $5. Younger and older, friends and family members may accompany the participant free of charge. Ghost walk

The Fort Frederick Ghost Walk features a period-costumed guide leading groups through "haunted" woods and ghostly scenes from the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Recommended for ages 6 and older; scenes might be frightening to young children. Walk starts at the park's visitors center and takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Today, 7 to 9 p.m. Gate closes at about 9 p.m.; anyone in line by then will get in. The Towne Singers

The Towne Singers will present "Bones and Bob." The show will open with Bob Eyer at the Moller Theater Organ. Also featured will be Lynn Lerew's Slide Show, consisting of trombones and rhythm, playing a variety of jazz selections, including Dixieland jazz. The Wayne Band

The Wayne Band will present its fall concert. Sunday, 2 p.m. Grace Brethren Church, 250 Philadelphia Ave., Waynesboro, Pa. Free.
