Work begins at Washington County schools' Central Office

October 17, 2007

Renovations to the main entrance and lobby of the Washington County Public Schools' Central Office begin today.

The work is expected to be completed in early December. The main entrance, lobby, auditorium and adjacent hallway will not be accessible. During that time, the planetarium entrance will be used as the main entrance to the building.

Because the auditorium will be affected by the work, the Board of Education will hold its November meetings in alternate locations. The Nov. 6 business meeting will be in the North Hagerstown High School auditorium at noon. The Nov. 20 meeting is scheduled to be in the South Hagerstown High School auditorium at 6 p.m.

When the work is complete, the entrance and lobby area will be more user-friendly, with a staff member there to greet citizens, parents and prospective employees.

Energy savings will also be realized, with a more efficiently designed entranceway to the building.
