Chambursburg string orchestra forms

conflict resolution program

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Cumberland Valley School of Music Community String Orchestra is accepting new members. The orchestra fall schedule calls for four rehearsals and a concert. Participation in the string orchestra is free and open to violin, viola, cello and string bass musicians who are comfortable playing in third position (first violin to fifth position).

Rehearsals for the new orchestra are scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 18 through Nov. 8, at Wilson College in Thomson Alumnae Chapel. The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the same location as rehearsals.

Washington County Community Mediation Center will celebrate Conflict Resolution Day with a program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Aspiring to Serve building, 140 W. Franklin St., fourth floor Commission on Aging conference room in Hagerstown.

The program will include a display of student projects, a mediator experience speech, and the performance of a mock mediation. The event is open to the public, and free refreshments will be served.
