Man dies in Hyattstown I-270 accident

HYATTSTOWN, Md. - A Hagerstown man died in a car accident early Saturday on Interstate 270 in Hyattstown, Maryland State Police said.

Andre Trinh, 57, was killed when the car he was driving crashed into the back of a tow truck at about 12:30 a.m., according to a news release from the State Police's Rockville, Md., Barrack.

Trinh was driving north on I-270 in a 2003 Toyota Tundra when, police allege, the 2004 Ford tow truck ahead of him attempted to make a U-turn onto an emergency vehicle crossover north of Comus Road, according to the release.

A passenger in the tow truck was taken to Shady Grove Hospital with minor injuries, and the driver of the tow truck was not injured, police said.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team, Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery County Fire/Rescue and State Highway Administration assisted in the investigation, police said.
