SPRING RUN, Pa. - A 23-year-old Franklin County, Pa., man was killed in a Sunday morning accident in Fannett Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.
Curtis Eugene McMullen, of 10362 Mountain Road in Orrstown, Pa., was driving a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire that hit a telephone pole at 12:53 a.m. near 16866 Amberson Road, police said.
Both the vehicle and pole split in two, police said.
McMullen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Police said the vehicle was eastbound on Amberson Road when it began to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crossed the road before hitting the pole.
McMullen was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.
The cause of death was multiple blunt-force trauma, Conner said.
