Blanket drive to benefit Humane Society of Washington County

October 12, 2007

A blanket drive to help replace the many blankets that were destroyed after an outbreak of parvovirus at the Humane Society of Washington County shelter will be conducted this weekend and next.

"I saw the article in the newspaper and felt I just had to do something to help the animals get more blankets," said Cheryl Phillips of Cascade.

Phillips contacted Mike Pryor, owner of Mike & Travis' Mountain Shadows Restaurant in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., who agreed to allow her to set up a blanket collection station in the restaurant Oct. 13 and 14 and Oct. 20 and 21.

Phillips will be at the restaurant at 14965 Buchannan Trail East on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and next weekend with the same hours.
