Hospice advance care workshops

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hospice of the Panhandle will offer advance care planning workshops (living wills and medical powers of attorney) throughout Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. The 90-minute presentations are free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Berkeley County presentations will include:

· Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Adult Education Building, Pikeside, W.Va.

· Wednesday, Nov. 14, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Adult Education Building, Pikeside.

· Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Adult Education Building, Pikeside.

· Wednesday, Dec. 12, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Inwood Primary School, Inwood, W.Va.

YMCA program starts new group

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg YMCA is forming a new group for the Healthy Balance Program. The Healthy Balance Program provides education about nutrition, exercise and stress reduction. Early intervention and autism treatment

FREDERICK, Md. -Parents Learning Together, a program about autism in young children and early intervention, will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School, 1799 Schifferstadt Blvd. The program is free.

Parents and caregivers can learn and support one another in this monthly group for those caring for children with special needs.

The group is co-sponsored by Families Plus!, Frederick County Public Schools' Partners for Success, and the Infant and Toddler's Family Support Network.

Nutrition lecture

INWOOD, W.Va. - Dr. Kristina Maciunas from Shenandoah Valley Family Health Center in Inwood, in collaboration with Hospice of the Panhandle, will give a lecture on nutrition, Thursday Oct. 18, at the Inwood Center, 102 Hovatter Drive in Inwood.

Fitness walking classes planned

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Jefferson County Community Center will offer fitness walking classes throughout the fall. Participants can engage in different walking intensities, walking backwards, walking laterally, basic hill training, agility training and flexibility training.
