Road projects

The following is a list of road construction projects that are under way or will be started in the next few months in Washington County.

U.S. 11 between Showalter Road and Industry Drive

· Projected cost is $18.5 million.

· Purpose of the project is to realign the road.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed by the end of October.

U.S. 40 and Edgewood Drive

· Projected cost is $12.2 million.

· Purpose of the project is to expand the intersection and widen the road.

· Project is expected to begin in March 2008 and be completed in fall 2009.

Maugans Avenue

· Projected cost is $7.4 million.

· Purpose of the project is to widen the road.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in August 2008.

Halfway Boulevard and Massey Boulevard

· Projected cost is $5.8 million.

· Purpose of the project is to expand the intersection.

· Project is expected to begin in June 2008 and be completed in summer 2009.

Jonathan Street

· Projected cost is $4.48 million.

· Purpose of the project is to replace utility lines, storm drains, sidewalks and lighting.

· Project is expected to begin in winter 2007 or spring 2008 and be completed in 2009.

Eastern Boulevard from Conrad Court to Md. 64

· Projected cost is $4.4 million.

· Purpose of the project is to widen the road.

· Project is expected to begin in October and be completed in fall 2008.

U.S. 522 bridge over the Potomac River

· Projected cost is $3.4 million.

· Purpose of the project is to clean and paint the bridge.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in December.

Md. 65 from Taylors Landing Road to Md. 68

· Projected cost is $3.1 million.

· Purpose of the project is to improve the intersection.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in December.

Mount Aetna Road and U.S. 40

· Projected cost is $1.4 million.

· Purpose of the project is to expand the intersection.

· Project is expected to begin in spring 2008 and be completed in fall 2008.

Stone arch bridge on East Oak Ridge Drive in Funkstown

· Projected cost is $1.1 million.

· Purpose of the project is to repair masonry.

· Project is expected to begin in spring 2008 and be completed in December 2008.

Barnes Road bridge south of Hagerstown

· Projected cost is $1.1 million.

· Purpose of the project is to repair masonry.

· Project is expected to begin in spring 2008 and be completed in December 2008.

Md. 68 west of Cedar Ridge Road to Bottom Road

· Projected cost is $961,000.

· Purpose of the project is to resurface the road.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in December.

U.S. 11 and Englewood Road

· Projected cost is $580,000.

· Purpose of the project is to improve drainage.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in December.

Sherman Avenue and Burhans Boulevard

· Projected cost is $51,000 (80 percent paid by the developers).

· Purpose of the project is to widen the intersection.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed in October.

Md. 60 to Northern Avenue

· Project will be paid for by the developer.

· Purpose of the project is to expand the intersection.

· Project is under way and expected to be completed by the end of 2007.
