Case goes forward in liquor store robbery

The case of a Hagerstown man charged with the Aug. 23 armed robbery of Potomac Wine and Spirits in Hagerstown was forwarded Wednesday to Washington County Circuit Court.

Leroy Venson Martin, 43, of 25 Fairground Ave., is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft and concealing a dangerous weapon.

A District Court judge found probable cause for the charges. Martin was being held without bail.

Bond raised against man in stabbing case

Bond for a Hagerstown man charged with stabbing three people in a Monday night bar fight was raised Wednesday after a commissioner discovered the man was convicted of a previous crime in New York, according to court documents.

Gregorio Gutierrez, 46, of 416 Kingswood Terrace, is now being held on $150,000 bond. He faces charges of first-degree and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.


Hagerstown Police broke up a large fight in the 400 block of Salem Ave. at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to charging documents. A witness told police the fight started inside Shaff's Pub when racial slurs were used against Gutierrez, according to charging documents.

None of the victims had life-threatening injuries and all were treated at the hospital and released, according to court documents.
