Sagittarius plans auction to benefit cancer program

October 03, 2007

Sagittarius Salon & Spa will celebrate "35 Years of Beauty! A Wellness and Beauty Auction" on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society's Patient Resource Navigation Program, a partnership with Washington County Hospital.

Sunday's event will focus on raising support and awareness for the Cancer Society program, which provides individualized personal guidance for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers to help them navigate the cancer experience.

This year marks the 35th anniversary for Sagittarius and owner Marsha Knicley-Masood wanted to create an event that would not only kick off Sagittarius' anniversary celebration but would benefit and raise awareness for a program that helps the community.

Knicley-Masood is an avid supporter of cancer programs. Having seen both her mother and husband battle with cancer, she formed her own nonprofit organization, "Life is a Gift," which not only offers seminars to educate cancer patients and their family members, but also provides an annual "Day of Beauty" at no cost for breast cancer patients and survivors.
