Stethoscope training class to be held

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education, in cooperation with Washington County Health System Inc., presents a seminar titled "Advanced Stethoscope Skills; Heart, Breath & Abdominal Sounds."

This seminar will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Robinwood Medical Center.

The seminar will teach students about the mechanism for sound production in the human body, how to differentiate between normal and abnormal sounds produced in the chest cavity and abdomen, how to identify the pathophysiologic basis for the production of crackles, bronchi, wheezes, pleural friction rub and egophony, and more.

Instructor Linda Woods is a nurse in the CCU at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. She has been teaching this course since 1987.

Registration costs $65, which includes continuing education credits, handouts, a continental breakfast and breaks. Fee for Washington County Health System employees is $45.
